CHAPTER 1: Part 2- The Bonds of the Uchiha

12 years had passed and Obito, aka Tobi, was often found in the forest training with me.

“No no no, you’ll never reach the next level of your sharingan like this!” Obito scolded.

My breath was heavy as we had been training all afternoon, “Easy for you to say, I can’t even turn mine off! Hell, I can’t even look at you without you activating YOUR sharingan!”

Though being born with your sharingan awakened may sound cool- it comes with its share of downsides.

My uncle shook his head; clearly disappointed. “You’re not committed to this; if you continue at this pace, you’ll never be of use to the Akatsuki. Your eyes are very powerful Yuko. The fact that you were born with the sharingan eyes makes you a special case, but if you don’t learn to control it, you’ll end up killing not only your enemies but also your allies.”

A bitter, injured Hidan chimed in from a distance, “Yeah no kidding!”

Hidan was one of the few Akatsuki who had seen Tobi’s real face and knew about my existence. So naturally I trained with him frequently.

“Silence Hidan,” Obito snapped, “or I may just suggest you train with Itachi again. See if you can escape his Tsukuyomi this time.”

I piped up. “Speaking of training with Itachi, when will I get to see my cousin? As a fellow Uchiha, wouldn’t training with him and his sharingan be beneficial?” I had heard so much about my older cousin but had yet to be reunited with him.

The frustration on my uncle’s face made me wish I could take the words right back. “Itachi is currently tracking the whereabouts of the tailed beasts. He doesn’t have the time to waste on someone who can’t even control her genjutsu. Once you learn to control your power better, maybe you can be useful to him on a mission- but as you are now you will only get in the way. Now, we have wasted enough time- back to training!”
